Burns' Cottage
Alloway, Ayrshire

Burns Cottage, Alloway, Ayrshire aerial photograph
The birthplace of Robert Burns in Alloway, just south of Ayr.

The cottage was built by Robert Burns' father and was attached to his market garden, seen behind the cottage.

The Robert Burns Birthplace Museum is run by the National Trust for Scotland and the cottage is one of the top tourist attractions in Scotland.

Images linked to Burns are marked in the menus with (b).

As you can see in this view (the cottage is right at the bottom) it's only a short distance from the sea.

On the left (south) are the Heads of Ayr with Greenan Castle nearby. It's an odd thing that Burns rarely mentioned the sea in any of his poems.

The red building to the right of the cottage is the Education Pavilion.
