This tower is the last remaining upright structure of the Citadel in Ayr, originally built by the order of Oliver Cromwell

The tower is a 15th century addition to the original 1300 Kirk of Ayr.

It was here that the Parliament and nobility of Scotland passed the crown to Robert Bruce.

These days the public are not allowed access and the wall round it has the gates firmly locked.
