At 44,300 gross tonnage this is a relatively small cruise ship. The port this year easily handled vessels up to the 113,000 tonnes of Cunard's Queen Anne and the even bigger Regal PRincess at 142,000 tonnes.

The Artania was built in Finland in 1984 and has previously been called Royal Princess and Artemis. Its current operators are Phoenix Reisen, a German travel company.

Easy access for passengers, parking for buses, taxis and hired cars, easy access to trains to visit Glasgow and other tourist sites in the west of Scotland.

There's even a Tesco superstore a couple of hundred yards away and an excellent chip ship five minutes walk away if the passengers feel like some people's food instead of the luxury fare on cruises...
