The new children's playpark at the Beach Park in Irvine, North Ayrshire

The new play park named Sea Monster now finally open for use at Irvine Beach Park.

There's also a re-routing of the access road to the car park at the point and an upgrade to the area around the harbour mouth tower.

There's a skatepark, monsters, a pirate ship, a chute, several slides and loads of seating for the parents, grandparents and guardians to safely watch.

No swings or roundabouts, however. Health and safety are no fun.

We'd like to thank whoever had the idea of adding the name Irvine Beach Park to the circle round the play area. That's very handy for aerial photos.

Although this part of the park is open to the public there's still work to be done on the area and the roads and landscaping need to be complete. It'll look better by the spring.
