Named after a local business magnate, Charles Kerr Marr, and built in 1930-35
after he donated the funds to build the school.
Seemingly, having been born and lived in Troon, he had to travel to Irvine for secondary education (high school) and so left the cash to build and support the school.
The C.K. Marr Educational Trust is a present-day charity based in Kilmarnock and supporting further education in Ayrshire.
The school is surrounded by golf courses and their clubhouse is linked to below.
