The Great Hall is rendered in Royal Gold harling as it would have been when built for James IV in 1503. (It's thankfully toned down a bit since its restoration a few years back.)

It's the largest medieval banqueting hall ever built in Scotland.

The imposing size of the rock the castle is built on, rising out of the flatlands of the River Forth, is very impressive.
