These are photos of the “Seadream II” from Seadream Yacht Club arriving at Troon in an early morning (7:00am) in August.

There are very few cruise ships calling at Troon (it's not a big pier) and a few more each year would be very welcome.

The ship came from Stornoway overnight and as you can see it reversed (went astern?) into its berth.

The later photos show the catamaran ferry “Alfred“ which is owned by Pentland Ferries and chartered by Caledonian MacBrayne for an eye-watering price to keep the ferries running until the farce over new ferry construction can finally be sorted out. That's been the case for about five or six years.

The “Seadream II” was built in 1984, refurbished in 2007, is registered in the Bahamas, is 344 feet long, 84 feet wide and has a draught of 14 feet. She carries 110 passengers with a crew of 85. From Troon she was heading for Port Ellen on Islay.
